Are you interested in having a dog, but maybe can’t afford it or can’t commit to forever? Consider becoming a foster home.
We have many dogs who would love to live in a foster home until they find their forever family. Dogs in foster care still belong to The Brittany Foundation, so we provide food and veterinary care while the dog remains up for adoption.
Foster homes are a wonderful way for us to find out exactly how a dog will behave in a home situation. While our staff and volunteers are very experienced in assessing a dog’s temperament and activity needs, it can be difficult to assess a dog for home placement when the only place we’ve seen the dog is in a kennel environment.
As a foster parent, you will know the dog better than anyone, and you can provide valuable information to help place the dog. By fostering, you’ll not only experience the joys of living with a dog, you’ll be helping a Brittany Foundation dog find his or her perfect permanent home.
The dog does need to be available for mobile adoption events and select open house Sundays as requested. As such, foster homes need to be local (close enough to the Santa Clarita or San Fernando Valleys to make transportation to adoption events feasible).
If you’re interested in fostering, please complete our adoption application. Even though you’re not adopting, your answers on the application will enable us to match you with a foster dog that will be compatible with you and your lifestyle.
Once you’ve been matched with a dog, we’ll deliver the dog as we do a home check, which is simply a walk-through of your home and yard to make sure it is secure for the dog (fences, etc).
Help a homeless dog today by fostering with The Brittany Foundation. Not only will you make a new best friend, you’ll ensure their success in the future.
