OUR FOUNDER
Nancy Anderson, founder and CEO of The Brittany Foundation, started her journey in rescue in 1986, shortly after she arrived in California. She became keenly aware of inhumane atrocities that she couldn't ignore: pit bull fighting and animal testing. She responded with action, rescuing her first pit bull, "Dog," from a person facing incarceration. She soon added two more pit bulls, "Romeo" and "Claudio," to her pack when she interrupted their transport to a fighting ring in Oxnard.
The Brittany Foundation was formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non profit in 1994, and has remained steadfast in our dedication to the rescue, rehabilitation, care, and placement of homeless dogs. We continue to rescue pit bulls, along with all other breeds, regardless of age, history, or medical condition.
