Come See Our Dogs!

Click here to see our adoptable dogs!

The Brittany Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care and placement of homeless dogs.

The dogs are shown at our weekly adoption program at our sanctuary in Agua Dulce. Please check our schedule for adoption events. While in our care, the dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given a thorough check-up along with any necessary medical attention. Our dogs are also microchipped.  If dogs are not adopted, they will live at the sanctuary for their entire life.  We run a no-kill facility.

We rescue all dogs, regardless of breed, and we often focus our efforts on the harder-to-place dogs such as seniors, disabled or abused dogs, and "media condemned" breeds such as Pit Bulls, Chow Chows, & Dobies. It's relatively easy to find a home for a cute little terrier, but the gratification for us comes from placing the 6-year-old Pit Bull with one eye, the stray mutt who has never had a home before, or the 12-year-old Doberman with severe separation anxiety (who is now living in a wonderful home of his own). Of course, we also have the adorable, easy, well-behaved angels who are still searching for their forever homes too.

Volunteer Spotlight

Gwen has been volunteering with The Brittany Foundation for many years and has become an integral part of our organization. She has volunteered at the ranch for kennel duties since she started with us, and last year she took on the challenge of becoming Adoption Coordinator.

As Adoption Coordinator, Gwen works with all of the venues to set up our adoption events, coordinates the volunteers who work those events, attends each event herself, and is often the point person when a potential adopter is interested in one of our dogs. She's truly dedicated to getting our dogs into new wonderful homes, and our adoption rate has increased significantly since she took on this role.

All of our pups (and humans) at the Brittany Foundation appreciate the love and commitment shown by this amazing individual.

Thank you, Gwen!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

Senior pets rule, and nobody knows that better than the people who have adopted them!  The Brittany Foundation places many senior dogs each year, and the "mature" dogs at the sanctuary hold a special place in our hearts.  In fact, you could say that EVERY month is Adopt a Senior Pet Month at The Brittany Foundation!

If you've never considered adopting a senior, consider these reasons that seniors make great pets:

  1. When seniors are adopted, many seem to understand they've been rescued, and are all the more thankful for it.
  2. A senior pet's personality has already developed, so you'll know if it's a good fit for you and your family.
  3. Some senior pets already know basic commands.
  4. A senior pet won't grow any larger, so no surprises there!
  5. Senior pets make great napping buddies, and are often content just to relax with you... unlike some younger dogs, who may get bored and get into mischief.
  6. Senior pets are some of the hardest to find homes for, so when you adopt a senior pet, you are truly saving a life.

A Day in Their Paws

We're at it again!  Everyone's favorite fundraiser, A Day in Their Paws, is coming up fast!  Mark your calendar for October 15 - we would love to see you at our open house from noon-4:00!

A Day in Their Paws is one way we raise awareness of how shelter and rescue dogs live. Volunteers commit to spending 24 hours in a kennel with the dog of their choice.  Volunteers can only get out of the kennel by finding sponsors who will "buy their freedom" for $1 per minute. We hold an open house at The Brittany Foundation Sanctuary, with music, raffle, silent auction, and of course you can tour the sanctuary, visit our "incarcerated" volunteers, and learn about the dogs who are keeping them company.

Visit our Day in Their Paws page to see our participating volunteers and help them meet their fundraising goals!

We are Volunteers

The Brittany Foundation is an all-volunteer organization. Our devoted staff handles the care, feeding, event coordination, public awareness campaigns and many other needs for our busy facility. Brittany Foundation volunteers know each dog personally, and they know how to assist you in finding the right dog for your needs, home and lifestyle.

Without the devotion to animals that the Brittany Foundation volunteers bring to our organization, we could not survive to help these dogs find homes.

If you are interested in volunteering, check out the "How to Help" section of our website. Even if you can't give a dog a home, you can make a difference in an animal's life. The Brittany Foundation is always seeking fellow dog lovers to assist our humane mission.

Even if you can't adopt, our dogs could still use your support. It's easy! Just click on the PayPal button below. Thank you.

We need labor for construction, landscape maintenance, providing socialization and care for the dogs in their kennels, staffing events and administrative tasks. We are a working ranch that always has projects which require help, for example with brush clearance during fire season.
