Adoption Process
To Be Considered To Adopt, You Must:
• Be 25 years of age or older.
• Have identification, and be owner or primary renter, and decision maker in home.
• Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for the rest of the dog’s life.
Adoption Application
Fill out and submit the adoption application. Please keep in mind, we consider all applications in the order they are received. We choose the best home, not the application that was received first.
Meet and Greet
After your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a meeting with the dog you are interested in. Of course you can meet several dogs if you would like. Everyone living in the home must attend and agree upon adopting.
Video and Pictures
If you would like to move forward after meeting the dog you are interested in, please email a short video of your home or send photos including indoor and outdoor area. All yards must be fenced, free of debris and completely secure.
Home Check
While a home visit is required prior to placement, it does not guarantee adoption. We need to see where our dogs will be living, which gives us peace of mind they will be in a safe secure environment and be living as loved family members.
Adoption Contract
Sign the adoption contract. This is a binding agreement between the adopter and The Brittany Foundation.
Adoption Fee
In many cases, we have already spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills and care for each dog. The donation helps us recoup a small fraction of those costs and helps us cover costs of new dogs we will rescue. There is a $300 to $500 adoption fee. All dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and be current on vaccinations prior to adoption. You will also receive a welcome package, that includes; food, collar, leash, toys and a blanket.
